Yes, We Did... Again.

At Scholarich, we're politically active and socially aware. For these reasons, we were all excited for what happened on March 22. For all of you who are politically uninformed (you poor, poor souls), the House of Representatives passed a bill on health care reform and President Obama is expected to sign it into legislation next Tuesday. This isn't an ordinary bill. The health care reform bill will drastically makeover the current health care system. Some may ask, "What's in it for me?" The bill goes to extraordinary lengths to help everyone. Below, check out a few of the things that the bill will have a positive impact on all Americans:
  • Health insurance companies will no longer be allowed to discriminate against children and adults because of pre-existing conditions.

  • The cut off age for young adults to be covered by their parents insurance will rise to 27.

  • Health insurance companies can no longer terminate coverage when an insured person becomes ill.

  • Chain restaurants will be required to provide a "nutrient content disclosure statement" alongside menu items. Soon there will be calorie counts on all drive-through and fast food places.

That's just a few of the things that the bill will change. Stay aware. Get involved. Be Scholarich.

  1. I cannot believe it's taken the US THIS long to revamp their healthcare system. Access to healthcare (without having to go broke) should be a human right everywhere...
