Waka Flacka: Dumber Than a 5th Grader

Is Waka Flocka Flame A Media Creation to Further Dumb Down Black Boys?
"All my brothers eatin' chicken and watermelon, talk broken English and drug sellin'" - Waka Flacka

"Last night, during the premier of the Hip Hop version of "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader," 24 year old Waka Flocka Flame, went up against nine year old up and coming rapper, Willow Smith. However, the show ended, abruptly when during the introductions, the host asked Flaka how many years he had been rappin'. After counting on his fingers for several seconds, a puzzled Flame stormed off stage, cussin' at the audience and accusing the host of asking him a trick question..."
This article, written by Minista Paul Scott is one of the best analyses of the rise of Waka Flocka Flame and the use of minstrels as models for Black boys. His blog can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/2d3jqnj

This is why Scholarich is necessary. Stupidity and ignorance should not be the face of HipHop. Our kids are impressionable and are mimicking these so called "role models". Help us win. Live Scholarich.

Drake "Show"

On Tuesday, South Street Seaport was overflowing with over 10,000 fans anxiously waiting to hear the rhymes of rapper Drake. Kids, teens, and people of all ages were packed into the seaport for the free event. The event was sponsored by Paper Magazine’s Sounds Like Paper summer concert series. People came from far and wide just to get a glimpse of the rapper on June 15th, the day of his Thank Me Later album release. The concert was scheduled to be from 6-9PM but headliners, Drake and pop band Hanson, never crossed the stage.
Unfortunately, what started as a peaceful gathering of fans became unruly after NYPD decided the seaport was too crowded, canceled the show, and attempted to disperse the crowd. At around 7:45 PM impatient, angry fans that had been waiting for almost two hours to see a performance started to retaliate. People began throwing bottles toward the stage, people on balconies began to throw trash down on the crowd below, and it became an all out riot. Bottles, potted plants, chairs, and tables were all thrown in the midst of the chaos. At least two people were arrested during the commotion.

Drake released a statement saying:
“I am humbled by the crowd that showed up in support of my performance and the release of Thank Me Later. I love performing for my fans but unfortunately the show was canceled by the NYPD due to overcrowding, leaving me without the chance to give my fans a real show. I’m thankful for the support that the fans have been giving me… I thank you now.”

We don't know if there will ever be a next time because some of y'all, to put it frankly, don't know how to act. Here are some video from this "show":

Kid Cudi Arrested

According to the Associated Press:

"Kid Cudi was arrested after an argument in a woman’s New York City apartment. The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, yanked the woman’s door off the hinges and smashed her cell phone against a wall, police told the New York Daily News . Cudi, who is originally from Cleveland, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal mischief. Cudi costars on HBO’s 'How to Make it in America' as Domingo, which has been renewed for a second season."

How many of you are surprised at Cudi's charges? We're not. Kid Cudi and controlled substances seem to go hand-in-hand, don't they?
